The 2021-22 Titan Sports Awards Night was held May 16. Student athletes on middle school and varsity teams were recognized for their hard work during the fall, winter, and spring sports seasons at DVCS, and special awards were given by coaches and the Athletic Department. DVCS also recognized three Class of 2020 student athletes who were unable to have an in-person sports awards night.

The following is a list of specific awards and student athlete recipients for 2021-22.

Cross Country

Most Improved Runner: Anthony Pugliese, 8th grade

Top Female Runner: Celia Pope, 10th grade

Top Male Runner: Josiah Dietrich, 10th grade

Coach’s Award: Faith Hollister, 12th grade

Volleyball

Best Offensive Player: Lydia Brown, 12th grade

Best Defensive Player: Lily McGarvey, 11th grade

Most Improved Player: Abigail Stone, 11th grade

Boys’ Soccer

Most Improved Player: Jono McGarvey, 9th grade

Outstanding Defensive Player: Andrew O’Connell, 12th grade

Most Valuable Player: Teni Babatunde, 12th grade

Basketball

Most Improved Player: Ty Waylee, 11th grade

Hustle Award: Jonathan Taylor, 12th grade

Most Outstanding Player: David Crossan, 12th grade

Girls’ Soccer

Continuous Improvement Award: Kiersten Mengel, 12th grade

Iron Man Award: Seth Corbett, 9th grade; David Crossan, 12th grade; Anthony Dorno, 10th grade; Tim O’Connell, 10th grade; Tim Praveen, 9th grade; John Schild, 9th grade

Iron Man Award recipients played at least one DVCS sport during every sports season of the 2021-22 school year.

Jonathan Award: Celia Pope, 10th grade – cross country and soccer

Nehemiah Award: Delainey Gray, 12th grade – volleyball and soccer

Titan Award: David Crossan – soccer, basketball, and baseball

The Titan Award goes to the top student athlete in his or her graduating class and includes a $200 scholarship.
