Fine Arts: VISUAL ARTS

Knowledge and appreciation for the visual arts is integral to the vision of the “good life.” For this reason, art instruction is a core component of a classical Christian education. At DVCS, students study art theory, discuss masterful works of art, and learn to produce their own works of truth, beauty, and goodness.

Grammar School Art

Kindergarteners study, discuss, and recreate historical masterpieces, such as works by Van Gogh.

The 2nd grade class journeyed on an in-school painting expedition by lantern light into the ancient Caves of Lascaux.

Fourth Graders team together to recreate the rose glass window at the National Cathedral and also create Tiffany stained glass watercolor copies.

Upper School Art

Throughout the spring, upper and lower school students enjoy art classes at Historic New Castle, only one mile away from our school.
We are grateful to God that we are able to equip students with the skills to recognize, appreciate, and create beauty in a city steeped in rich history.
