Fine Arts: MUSIC

Music is a core component of a DVCS education. Recognized as one of the seven liberal arts, from Kindergarten through 12th grade, students study music theory and history and are exposed to great composers like Saint-Saëns, Tchaikovsky, and Mozart, forming an appreciation for beautiful music.

Tuning the Soul

Our music program faithfully trains students to develop their voices as powerful instruments of worship to sing beautifully and confidently to glorify the Lord. By fifth grade, our students sing in three-part harmonies.

Excellent singing enriches the educational process at Delaware Valley Classical School. As you walk our halls, you will hear music everywhere. Each morning, our school day is heralded with the singing of hymns. Grammar students sing jingles to aide memory recall, and Upper School teachers often start their lessons by centering their students’ souls on Christ with hymns in English or Latin. At lunchtime, the cafeteria is filled with the sweet sound of praise as students sing “The Doxology”.

Making a Joyful Noise

Students at DVCS are encouraged to learn a musical instrument, allowing them to experience the joy of creating beautiful music and reflecting the image of our beautiful Creator.
